The best clothing design concepts don't begin with garments, but rather the bodies that will be wearing them. The Avignon is a classic example of this. Tired of swimming in the waists of tops that were big enough for my climber shoulders but cut for the "average" man's spare tire, I gave the cut of the Avignon a gentle taper to the waist. Not only did this closer fit seal out drafts, it hugged my body, never blocked my view of my feet, or got in the way on the rocks. This tapered concept was applied to the arms and resulted in sleeves that stay put under a jacket, even in that long stretch to a final jug. (CG)
